Kiwanis Club of Liberty Lake has lately increased its borders to include S.E. Asia. Our club was able to send a donation to the tsunami relief efforts following the devastation that ravaged much of S.E. last month. It brought all of us great joy to be able to participate in this relief effort. Knowing that our fund raising efforts can help meet the needs of people in real crises adds fuel to our volunteer fires.
At our special evening meeting held on Wednesday, February 16th, our club was challenged with the opportunity to invest ourselves in the SIGN ministry. Dr. Keeve, a Liberty Lake resident recently returned from Cambodia, shared his multi-media presentation of his trip.

SIGN (Surgical Implant Generation Network) is an international organization of surgeons whose mission is to establish clinics throughout third world countries. Doctors from America and Europe establish these clinics and train onsite surgeons to use the tools they bring with them to help bring healing to those who suffer broken bones in third world countries. Without SIGN, victims of broken limbs most often face a life lived as beggars or worse.
Each clinic established by SIGN requires $15,000. Behind the vision of Liberty Lake Kiwanis member Patrick Dockrey, our club has committed ourselves to the challenge of raising enough money to fund one clinic a year for the next five years. Way to go, club! May we all have a ball in the process of meeting this great and wonderful challenge!
